DAY 21 - BE FEARLESS

I hope you’re following along as we countdown the final 100 days of 2022 - you can join us anytime. Learn more about the program HERE.

The fear of failing can stifle our courage to the point that we don’t get to where we want to go.  We miss opportunities and feel regret.  My youngest daughter is completing her undergraduate degree this spring.  She’s trying to decide if she continues on with graduate school or takes time to get a job or internship for a year, delaying graduate school.  Those are big choices for her, choices which need to be all hers.  I listen to her and try to offer up some things to consider, instead of trying to solve the issue.  Trust me, I’m still mom and I’m a fixer.  When I see people struggle, my instinct is to jump in with solutions.  But I can’t be the “fix it” person here, I have to keep quiet and allow her to work through this.  After all, choices come with consequences…and rewards.  I know her very well and part of her process is to just say things out loud, weigh options and then come to a conclusion.

Making decisions that impact our lives can be scary.  Uncertainty is tough.  But here’s the thing, if we make a decision that isn’t turning out as we expected, our story is not ending the way we planned, we can do something about it.  Mercifully, we have a say in our future and our dreams.  We have the ability to change our path if it’s not headed in the right direction.

What is far more difficult than a bad decision is living with the regret of not taking the chance when we could.  It’s okay to feel uncertain, even a bit scared.  Those are the feelings that remind us that we’re alive.  Life would be so boring if we knew what was around every corner.  We have the power to say yes to the unknown and the power to change direction if it’s not what we envisioned.  So be fearless, take a chance!
