DAY 52 - WHY DO IT ALONE?

I hope you’re following along as we countdown the final 100 days of 2022 - you can join us anytime. Learn more about the program HERE.

As social beings, most people get energy being around others, especially if it’s with folks who share the same desires.  There are bowling leagues, book clubs, Mommy & Me groups, and so many others.  Why not start a “Goals Group?”  A collective of like-minded people who want to support each other with goal setting, check-ins, and sharing progress along the way.

I know there are a number of organizations out there who support meeting up or networking events, but this is a little different.  What if the people in the group were friends, neighbors, or colleagues whom you know and trust already?  People you can share your dreams and ideas with; all the wishes you have for your life but don’t talk about.  People who will commit the time to be in the group and come to the table with no judgement and all the support you need!

Some ideas to get started:

  • If you’re thinking colleagues, is there a place at the office where you can have some privacy and do a monthly, brown bag lunch group?  A café close by where you can grab a table in the corner.

  • If the thought is a neighborhood group, take turns hosting the group as a potluck or bring appetizers.

  • Maybe people in your church group would like to participate – most churches have rooms for their member that can be reserved for little to no cost.

  • If it’s a mixture of folks, maybe it’s best to find a mid-point for everyone, go the book-club route and use a coffee shop, wine bar, quiet back room at a restaurant or rotate houses.

To really get things going, start in December with a holiday kick-off get together!  Ask everyone to purchase a lined journal & a nice pen/pencil.  You can pick these up at a local bookstore or order on Amazon at a very reasonable price.  Wrap them up with festive holiday paper and everyone gets to draw a package like a white-elephant style game (only there are no dud presents…LOL).  Establish the 2023 meeting schedule and when you meet in January, everyone can already have their wish list started.  How better to support friends in doing the things they’ve only dreamed of?!
