DAY 19 - PLANNING FOR 2023
I hope you’re following along as we countdown the final 100 days of 2022 - you can join us anytime. Learn more about the program HERE.
It’s hard to believe we have less than three weeks left in 2022. Though the hectic holidays are between here and 2023, it’s a good time to start planning simple ways to help the new year start more smoothly.
December is the time of year when so many things are overlooked, which allows me greater access to get things planned. Which allows me to have less worry when the calendar rolls over.
Here are a few of my current tasks:
Get out my 2023 planner and start creating my schedule. For example, my grandsons will be performing in their school play in March, I know now so I’m doing to block out my schedule to ensure I will be there to see them.
Schedule upcoming medical and dental visits for January 1 - July 1. If my doctor’s offices have the whole year open for scheduling then I make sure to plan all of my 2023 needs. This is a wonderful way to make our health a priority.
Look over my medications to see if anything will soon need a refill.
Schedule veterinary appointments.
Purchase birthday cards for next year and start addressing and stamping the envelopes. Write those dates down in my planner to ensure the cards are mailed on time.
Schedule a donation pickup for the 2nd week of January - I do this because I often find many things that I’m ready to part ways with as I’m putting the house back together after the holiday decorations come down.
With my family all together for the holidays, we plan (and book) our summer vacation at this time.
This is the perfect time to make restaurant reservations for Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Mother’s Day - these are things no one is currently concerned with.
We are campers and RVers and even though it’s hard to imagine planning a summer camping trip, this is the time to make those campground reservations - my favorite state campground has a rolling 6-month reservation system which means we are planning mid-June camping right now.
My youngest daughter will be graduating from college in June, so it’s time to start planning her graduation party and notifying family members of the dates in case they want to travel to celebrate with us. I will be putting deadlines throughout the next 6 months of my planner to remind me to get out invitations, schedule catering, and book miscellaneous home care tasks like getting the carpets cleaned for her party.
Our bikes aren’t being used right now, so I will take them to the repair shop for a tune-up because they aren’t booked up. And our RV has a recall, so the quiet season is the perfect time to schedule that.
This is also my favorite time to evaluate my 2023 North Star and plan my first-quarter goals. Not to mention looking over my 2022 goals as I retire this year’s notebook and planner.
